A butterfly cake

Back when we were staying at my mum’s house whilst renovating our house a few months ago, I did my best to keep up with the homeschooling. We stuck to our Little Oak Learning seasonal units, and we were up to the Butterfly unit. I didn’t get any photos of the activities we did throughout the unit, but we did order a chrysalis kit to observe some real butterflies and we made a butterfly cake to celebrate the end of the unit.

We had a lot of fun putting the cake together and decorating it, but observing a butterfly emerge from its chrysalis was pure magic. It was very difficult to convince the kids to release those butterflies lol but we got there in the end. Whether or not you do a butterfly unit, I’d recommend getting one of these kits one day. This is where we found ours from.
